SOAR

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Congratulations you have been selected for the SOAR Project
We are so excited for you to be here!

Success with Support
Support is the keystone of the Holbrook’s Project SOAR.  This support begins with each student having one-to-one support with trained mentors. Support happens during the scheduled lab times, once a week.  Support happens by all certifications and tests are to be paid for by the grant, but with each certification participants will receive technology tools. Our goal is that you are successful!
Online Learning
Content is delivered in an online environment.  Completing coursework on the computer guarantees that students can see, hear and interact with the content rather than having to learn completely from a book.   Trained instructors will work with all participants during the lab sessions.  Our goal is that you interact with content and learn in a way that ensures you master the content!
Academic Achievement
Participants must be willing and able to dedicate a minimum of four hours a week and two years of training to the project.  Academic achievement of IT job skills begins with the foundation in the first year and IT tracks in the second year.  The second year will give you choices in gaining media certifications and skills, MOS certification for college and workplace skills, or IT certifications with higher-level skill sets offered in the online environment.
